Beirut, January 31, 2025 – The Hospital Infection Control Committee (CLIN) of Hôtel-Dieu de France once again brought together Lebanese and international health experts and professionals to discuss essential topics in public and hospital health during the 19th edition of the "CLIN Day," titled "Prevention First”.
This event focused on the crucial issues of modern medicine, with a particular emphasis on the fight against hospital-acquired infections and best hygiene practices.
The event was enriched by interactive sessions deepening discussions on hygiene protocols and attitudes, providing participants with a unique opportunity to highlight the latest advancements in patient safety and infection prevention in healthcare settings.
Professor Dania Chelala, President of the CLIN at Hôtel-Dieu de France, began by welcoming all participants from hospitals across Lebanon and expressing her gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the advancement of the CLIN's work. "We would like to warmly thank all those who preceded us in the various CLIN teams, as it is thanks to their constant efforts over the years that we have reached this level of excellence. We also thank everyone present today, as well as our sponsors, for making this day possible," she said.
Professor Georges Dabar, Director of Medical Affairs, emphasized the important role of nurses in combating hospital-acquired infections. He stated: "Nurses are present at every stage, around the patients, healthcare providers, and residents, investigating and ensuring that it is indeed an infection and not just a contamination. It is essential to remind everyone that the CLIN represents a collective commitment from doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and biologists who work tirelessly throughout the year in service of patients and medical teams. We hope that this model of cooperation will be expanded across the entire network. I would like to thank you all for your outstanding work."
Reverend Father Salim Daccache, Rector of Saint Joseph University of Beirut and Chairman of the HDF Board of directors, also paid a special tribute to those working in education and healthcare: "I would like to honor the educators of our country, Lebanon, and salute the work of the teachers and sisters from our university. Your ongoing commitment, visible today through your presence, is essential in the fight against infections. Your work, especially in recent years, has been crucial in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patients. Thanks to your efforts, we have significantly reduced the rate of nosocomial infections and countered the malicious rumors affecting our hospital. Awareness campaigns, continuous training, and the improvement of hygiene protocols have borne fruit. Together, we can continue to improve the quality of care and protect our patients from infections."
The 19th Clin Day is part of Hôtel-Dieu de France’s ongoing efforts to strengthen professional skills and promote the sharing of best practices amidst global health challenges.
With a rich program of expert interventions and active participation from the medical Doctors and caregivers, this day once again confirmed Hôtel-Dieu de France’s commitment to education, awareness, and the implementation of rigorous protocols to ensure safe and high-quality healthcare for all.
