Infectious Diseases

The Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases, founded in 1995, provides highly specialized medical services in the fields of epidemiology, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infectious diseases.

It is staffed by four doctors who specialize in all areas of infectious diseases.

The department is also heavily involved in both pre- and post-graduate training in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases for students at the USJ Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy.

The infectiologists of the department are an integral part of the institution's Nosocomial Infection Control Committee.

The Department of Infectious and Tropical Diseases offers a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of the following conditions:

  • Infections in immunocompromised patients
  • Fungal and mycobacterial infections
  • General viral diseases, as well as chronic infections such as HIV and viral hepatitis
  • Infections related to prostheses and other implants

In addition, the department prioritizes the safety of travelers and recommends the necessary vaccines and medications required for their trips.
